How Does the AI-Powered Smart Part Counting System Work?

Automatic Counting with Artificial Intelligence, Industrial Cameras and Image Processing

AIGUMEX is an intelligent industrial automation solution that uses AI-powered image processing to count large numbers of small parts quickly, automatically and without contact.

Developed as an alternative to traditional manual counting, the system captures parts with industrial cameras, analyzes them with software algorithms and automatically calculates the quantity of detected parts.

With an optional packaging system and ERP integration, it provides an integrated automation infrastructure from counting to packaging and production data management.

How Does the AI Counting System Work?

  1. 01

    Automatic Part Feeding

    Parts to be counted are placed in the feed hopper. The feeding mechanism transfers the parts onto the conveyor belt in a controlled way, guiding them to the area where the camera counts them.

    Imaging with an Industrial Camera

    As the parts move along the belt, they are captured by the industrial camera. Proper lighting and imaging conditions make it easier to detect parts of different shapes and sizes.

    AI Part Detection

    The image processing software analyzes the camera images, separates the parts from the background and detects each one individually.

    Counting is performed by evaluating the shape, size and visual features of the parts. Depending on the algorithm used, parts lying close together can be separated and double counting across images can be prevented.

    Automatic Quantity Calculation

    Detected parts are counted by the software and the total quantity is shown on the operator screen.

    The operator can set the target count according to production needs. For example, the system can be configured for batches of 50, 100, 250 or 500 pieces.

    Optional Automatic Packaging

    When used with a packaging unit, counting results can be passed on to the packaging process, creating an automated production flow for packing parts in the specified quantities.

    Integration with ERP and Factory Systems

    Counting and packaging data can be transferred to SAP, Oracle and other ERP/MES systems through a suitable integration infrastructure.

    This allows production orders, counted quantities, packaging records and stock movements to be managed through central software systems.
